About the event

Join the CCCO in a program featuring the life and story of "Black Sam" Bellamy, who after becoming one of the richest pirates in history, goes down with his crew in 1717 aboard the Whydah during a violent storm off the coast of Wellfleet, Cape Cod. Composer-in-Residence Cody Forrest joins us for his first commission of the season.

This famous fugitive will be met by the Military Symphony of Haydn, a work complete with a handful of percussion, trumpet calls, and unabashed joy. The CCCO will also perform Sibelius' reaction to Belshazzar's Feast, and a selection of music from Jean-Philippe Rameau's ballet and opera works.

PROGRAM:

SIBELIUS Belshazzar's Feast

RAMEAU Selections from Ballet and Opera

CODY FORREST "Black Sam" Bellamy Commission

HAYDN Symphony No. 100 "Military"
